Design and layout

The pattern was designed at full scale.

Decorative scrolls, twisted pickets, straight bars, collars, and spacing were arranged on plywood layouts before fabrication. Working full scale made it possible to judge proportion against the Spanish-style façade.

Full scale wrought iron layout — Full-size layout established picket spacing and the ornamental center.

Raw steel materials — Raw steel, cut components, and hardware were staged before welding.

Fabrication

Individual pieces became custom balcony sections.

Frames, returns, twisted pickets, ornaments, lower platforms, and supports were cut, fitted, welded, ground, and checked as complete assemblies.

Wrought iron balcony assembly — The central panel and pickets were welded into the frame.

Fabricated balcony at an angle — The completed raw-steel section shows its depth and return sides.

Twisted picket and weld detail — Welds and transitions were cleaned before finishing.

Multiple fabricated balcony sections — Several custom-sized sections were completed together in the shop.

Installed result

New ironwork that looks native to the architecture.

Multiple balcony sizes and a lower window guard were installed across the façade. Curled lower brackets and open platform framing add depth without overpowering the original Spanish architecture.

Installed balconies from the side — The side view shows platform depth and bracket alignment.

Underdeck support brackets — Curled support brackets repeat the decorative language.

Finished wrought iron balconies — The completed ironwork adds scale, shadow, and detail to the façade.
